Police probe man's death after body found at Maryborough

Queensland police have launched an investigation into the sudden death of a man on the Fraser Coast.
Emergency services were called to Slaughterhouse Road in Maryborough West, about three hours north of Brisbane, just before 7am today and discovered an unresponsive man, believed to be in his 40s.

Detective Acting Inspector Cameron Schneider said a member of the public notified police about the discovery near a walking track.
"It's quite a remote area, so off the track in an industrial area," he said.
Inspector Schneider said no-one had been formally arrested or charged over the incident, but police were "speaking with people that can assist us in terms of statements and things like that".

Officers declared the man deceased shortly after.
A crime scene has been established, with police working to determine the circumstances surrounding the man's cause of death.
Inspector Schneider said officers were currently speaking with people who lived near the area to provide footage that could track the man's movements prior to his death.
"We're asking members of the public if they were in the area off Slaughterhouse Road and Walker Street, if they have CCTV or dash cam to provide it to police," he said.

Speaking at a separate press conference, Queensland Premier David Crisafulli said the death was "a very sad state of affairs".
"It's deeply troubling when something like that happens, particularly in a small community," he said.
